How much has Latinx media outlets progressed? How big is the representation?

Eugenio Derbez, a Mexican actor, comedian, and filmmaker, recently streamed a video that spoke to the Latinx community. Derbez appeared in a dish Latino commercial that was highly emotional, and many Latinxs reacted to the commercial. Dish Latino is a Spanish American television provider network. Eugenio is watching a TV show known as El Chavo del Ocho in the commercial. El Chavo del Ocho is a Mexican tv show that many Latinx grew up watching; this show marks a terrific identity for Latinxs because of how relatable the show was to actual life circumstances. In the commercial, the main character of el Chavo del Ocho jumps out of the TV and has an entire nostalgic conversation with Eugenio. The main character asks Eugenio if he still watches him, just like in the old times. Eugenio answers, "yes, like always." The main character starts talking about how much technology has changed and how the Latinx media outlets have expanded; he was trying to emphasize that progress is bein...

Where does the Latinx community stand when it comes to voting?

Where does the Latinx community stand when it comes to voting? Latinxs do not engage in politics for many reasons. In 2020 Latinxs were predicted to impact the 2020 presidential election significantly. During the election campaigns, some political campaigns in the state of Nevada turned to Latinxs with the goal of obtaining their vote. In her article, Calderon describes the Latinx community as a sleeping giant when it comes to voting. This means that Latinxs are known for not participating in voting. To begin with, there is a considerable lack of representation in politics towards Latinxs. However, it was projected that in 2020 for the first time in history, Latinxs were going to be the largest racial and ethnic minority group to vote (Calderon, 2020). There are many reasons why Latinxs are not active in politics, like, language barriers, lack of information, lack of resources, and citizenship status. With this being said, it was confirmed that many Latinxs voted in the 2020 elec...

Latinx Street Vendors became viral on TikTok??!! Here is why.....

A famous tiktoker named Juixxe became viral after creating a platform to help Latinx Street vendors in Los Angeles, California. There are tons of Latinx people selling different things in the streets of Los Angeles; some claim that this is how they survive, especially during this pandemic. Street vendors were being harassed and filmed for some time to be made fun of online. Many started a movement to protect and help these street vendors. Juixxe started recruiting funds from his videos to distribute them to random street vendors as an appreciation for their services. This became viral, and millions of people began contributing to the movement. Juixxe creates different accounts like Zelle, GoFund me, and Cashapp, where people deposit money for these vendors. Once the funds are collected, Juixxe goes on missions to look for street vendors and bless them with up to $1000. Juixxe approaches a street vendor and pretends as if he is going to buy something from them, and once the vendors...

What is going on with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services????????

Image
Why does USCIS have time to post tweets but are taking so long with their procedures? The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services is making citizens mad and impatient because their process for any service is taking longer than usual. When the pandemic started, USCIS fell behind with accomplishing its applications. Over 200,00 Green cards have been wasted over the past few years because of the pandemic delay. USCIS has millions of cases that were stopped, and people do not like the idea. USCIS is very active on social media platforms, especially Twitter; people are complaining about this. When USCIS tweets, they receive negative comments from people like, “Why are you guys posting instead of working on cases.” People are currently demanding USCIS to work harder to get the citizens from Ukraine their asylum documentation. Today USCIS tweeted in respect of staffing. Their tweet stated the following “We’re hiring asylum officers nationwide! Make an impact in the lives of asylum ...

Latinxs are calling for a bigger future in the Media!!!

The Free Press News Voices partnered up with individuals from the Latinx community to start a project about a bigger Latinx local news future. The main idea of this project was to build on a bigger news platform that Latinx could identify with. Diamond Hardiman wrote an article and spoke about this subject. Latinx have been dealing with severe racist media problems. There are many barriers between mass media and Latinx communities. This project was created in hopes of destroying these barriers and a call for better representation towards Latinxs. Hardiman states that powerful media outlets make it complicated for Latinxs to expand their horizons in the media industry. Many ideas were brainstormed to fix this issue. The state of Colorado proposed for more Latinx staff in newsrooms and investing in future Latinx media makers. I believe that this is important because, after the 2016 presidential elections, media outlets started to talk about Latinxs negatively. Donald Trump was publ...

How does the Latinx community receive their news???!!!

Different news outlets distribute news around the world. For example, here in the United States, some of the most known news channels are Foxnews, CNN, and the NYT. Some Latinx individuals do not speak English, so, likely, they aren't involved with English news outlets. So, where do Spanish-speaking individuals get their news from? Many channels, podcasts, and digital sources distribute information in Spanish. Some of these sources are Telemundo, Univision, Remezcla, CNN en espanol and many more. These sites allow individuals to connect with the world by providing different resources through their sites. In many cases, individuals can contact these sites to ask for any civil help with any issue. For example, let's talk about how Ashley Acosta. Ashley was in a fatal car accident where she lost her unborn 7-month son, and days later, she also died. Ashley lived here in Atlanta, and unfortunately, her mom is in Mexico. The mom wanted to come and see her baby girl, but that's ...

Social media platforms are rapidly spreading the hashtag #adaywithoutimmigrants!!!!

February 14 is a significant commercial day that I am sure many celebrate because Valentine’s Day is celebrated. Tons of sales come from items relating to valentine’s day. As we might know, many buy candy, stuffed animals, flowers, arrangements, and restaurant sales are also high. Latinx individuals believe that many of these sales come from the immigrant community. Many if not all social media content creators have united to the hashtag #adaywithoutanimmigrant. This hashtag was created by immigrants and Latinx people to grab the attention of many to ask for a change. People are posting and making videos talking about the subject. The plan is to not consume anything on February 14 so that the government can see how much the immigrant and Latinx community contributes to this country. This hashtag has immensely grown thanks to how rapidly social media platforms move. Many news outlets are aware of this and have decided to talk about the issue. For example, Univision and Telemundo- ...
