WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THIS IMMIGRATION CRISIS?

Immigrants from different countries have been trying to cross over to the United States. Greg Abbott, the governor of Texas, bussed several immigrants from the Texas border to Washington D.C. Many people are not content with this. The real question here is, why did he do this first? Beto O’Rourke stated that this was just another political stunt done by Greg Abbott. Beto also mentions that Greg has not done a thing to improve the safety of Texas or, in fact, the security of the country. People have different opinions about this. Twitter is flooded with tweets about these buses arriving in Washington. Many people are happy that they are helping immigrants.

On the other hand, some say negative things such as “send them back to where they came from .”Some people are also mad because they believe that Greg plays politics with people’s lives. Jokes are being made about this issue. Many people tweet the following “Keep bringing them, don’t worry, Biden won’t even notice,” and pictures of Biden sleeping in a conference are attached. Others state that these are humans and not objects that can be treated poorly, which is why immigration in America is a joke. So, what is going on? What is this immigration crisis about? And where will it end?

  1. It really does seem as if Governor Abbott is using these immigrants as a political tool. It seems ethically and morally wrong to use people in this manner as a political tool. I understand the desire to bring the border crisis to light and to get Washington to notice the issue but there must be a more appropriate way Abbott could have done this. The state of Texas and the security of the border between Texas and Mexico are critical to the homeland security effort in the United States and it doesn't seem that Abbott is very professional on that issue.

  2. I think Abbott is doing way more harm than he think he's doing, because just "shipping" people to a secondary location without "processing" them correctly (i'm not sure if they are actually processing these people or not) could end up leading to a whole lot of problems in the long run. also it definitely isn't ethically right to be playing with these people's lives, especially when they are going through something so traumatic already. What i'm now wondering is how they are going to "deal" with the Ukrainian imigrants, even though they seem to be welcomed way better than other immigrants. (i wonder why ;p)

  3. It seems that Governor Abbott is conducting these transports without coordinating with U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The article in the tweet you attached mentions that these immigrants must volunteer to go on these buses. I'm not sure how true that is, but either way the ones who do volunteer are likely unaware that this process is not normal for immigrants.

  4. Hello, Governor Abbott appears to be exploiting these immigrants as a political tool, and this appears to be the case. In this case, it appears to be unethical and morally wrong to utilize people as political tools in this manner. I understand the desire to bring the border crisis to the public's attention and to draw attention to the issue in Washington, but there must have been a more appropriate way for Abbott to accomplish this. State of Texas and the security of the border between Texas and Mexico are vital to the United States' homeland security efforts, and Abbott does not appear to be acting in a professional manner on this problem.
